It is with much sadness that
the Cherry Tree ‘A’ must report the death of their regular team mate Martin
Pryce. Prycey was a founder member of the Cherry Tree’s FIQL team at the
inception of the league in 1991 and a regular member of the team when it became
champions in ‘91,’92 and 2002.
He had a phenomenal capacity
to recall a great array of the nonsense that all quizzers have learnt to rely
on every Monday night with his strengths including history, horse-racing and dodgy
70’s pop music. He also had an uncanny knack of remembering the correct answer
moments after the 30 seconds had elapsed and our hapless skipper had offered up
something completely wrong.
Anyone who played against
the Cherry Tree in the second half of last season will know that, even though
his illness was diagnosed at Christmas, Prycey remained virtually an ever
present in the team despite undergoing a variety of treatments.
He died aged 50 on September
1st and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
